Job description

Standard Job Description

Your duties will include responsibility for design, manufacture, procurement and testing of the propulsion system components and assemblies. This job requires coordinating with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and other related fields including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure design, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities. Other duties may include,

  • Subsystem Integration
  • Review conceptual development, requirements definition, and design of propulsion components
  • Develop product performance specifications, statements of work, and supplier data requirements for components
  • Maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical analyses to support systems and components
  • Develop and provide design solutions, of varying complexity, using solid models, detailed drawings, and release of engineering work products under the supervision of a senior Propulsion Engineer.
  • Review requirements, from various sources (instrumentation, dynamics, stress, systems, thermal, manufacturing, etc.) to ensure that applicable requirements are flowed into the detailed design of assigned products.
  • Support production meetings and manufacturing & test anomaly/discrepancy resolution
  • Evaluate technical aspects of the procurement from the selected hardware supplier
  • Provide user documentation and recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design review

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or in related discipline 
  • Experience with 1st order analysis in fluids, statics and dynamics, heat transfer/ thermal
  • Experience with mechanical CAD modeling in CREO or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences
  • 1+ years of related experience

Desired Skills

  • Experience with propulsion component development and system integration experience
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality…)
  • Familiar with design for Manufacturability (DFM)
  • Experience with supply chain management and subcontracts
  • Experience with anomaly management with standard root cause tools (e.g. fishbone or fault tree analysis)
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00
