Product Marketing Manager
Job description
About Maxima
Nobody went into accounting to spend the first week of every month matching transactions by hand. Maxima was built so they don't have to. Our agents do the accounting work itself: journal entries, transaction matching, reconciliations, and flux analysis, in real time and to SOX standards. Accountants review and approve. Nothing posts without a person signing off. We remove the grind, not the human.
Maxima is the first agentic AI platform for enterprise accounting. Our founders oversaw the finance org at Rubrik and built the month-end close systems at Twitter and Netflix. We've raised $41M from Redpoint Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, and Audacious Ventures, and we're backed by finance leaders at OpenAI, Rubrik, and Vanta. Maxima runs in production at Scale AI, Rippling, Glean, and SpotOn.
We are early, we are growing fast, and we are hiring people who would rather build the category than join it. Here is one way to do that.
Maxima is the agentic system of work for enterprise accounting, purpose-built to deliver audit-ready, continuous close. Our founders have experience coming from both sides of the problem: from overseeing the finance org at Rubrik, to building month-end close systems at companies like Twitter and Netflix.
We raised our $41M seed + series A funding, from top tier investors like Redpoint Ventures and Kleiner Perkins, are backed by finance leaders at companies such as Rippling, OpenAI, and Ramp, and was recognized as a best place to work by SF Business Times and Silicon Valley Journal.
The Role
We are hiring a Product Marketing Manager to own positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategy across Maxima's product platform: five products, along with our growing integration ecosystem. This is a hands-on, builder-operator role.
You will work closely with product, engineering, founders, customers, and marketing to translate complex accounting workflows and AI capabilities into clear, differentiated narratives that build trust with enterprise buyers. You will lead go-to-market for new features and products as they ship, and run a continuous research practice to understand how different customers use Maxima to solve specific pain points, and where they find real value in the platform.
Our audience is controllers and senior accounting leaders at mid-market and enterprise companies. They are pressed for time, allergic to hype, and responsible for some of the highest-stakes workflows in the business. Every piece of positioning and every launch should reflect that.
What you'll do
Own product positioning, messaging, and narrative across all five Maxima modules and our integration ecosystem as the platform evolves
Lead go-to-market for new feature and product launches, from research and narrative through launch materials
Translate complex accounting workflows and AI capabilities into simple, differentiated stories and workflow guides that resonate with enterprise accounting leaders
Conduct ongoing customer research, including win/loss, customer interviews and usage analysis
Partner closely with product and engineering to deeply understand new capabilities as they're built and turn them into compelling positioning ahead of launch
Partner with Sales and Customer Success to gather win/loss insight, objections, and real usage patterns that inform product marketing strategy
Build and maintain competitive positioning
Partner with demand generation to ensure positioning and launch narratives show up consistently across campaigns and content
About you
Strong positioning instincts. You can take a technically sophisticated, multi-product platform and articulate exactly why it matters to enterprise buyers
Track record of leading product or feature launches end to end
Experience running customer research, including interviews and usage analysis, and turning findings into positioning and strategy
Exceptional writer with outstanding editorial judgment, clarity of thought, and genuine voice. You write like a person, not a language model
Comfortable translating complex accounting workflows, enterprise software, and AI systems into simple, differentiated narratives
Strong customer empathy and interviewing skills that uncover meaningful insights and buying motivations
AI-native in your workflow (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.)
Able to build systems and use AI as a force multiplier without sacrificing quality
High agency, strong judgment, and a bias toward shipping
Must-haves
Experience at an early- to growth-stage B2B SaaS company
Experience owning positioning and messaging for a multi-product or multi-module platform
Experience leading go-to-market for product or feature launches
Experience conducting customer research and synthesizing it into actionable insight
Exceptional writing and communication skills
Experience partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Go-to-Market teams
High quality bar and strong taste for product storytelling and narrative
Strong plus
Background in accounting, finance, fintech, ERP, or enterprise software
Experience marketing AI products, workflow automation, or technical platforms
Familiarity with accounting workflows such as journal entries, reconciliations, close management, or financial reporting
Experience launching AI or agentic software products
Experience building competitive battlecards and sales enablement materials
Familiarity with NetSuite or other ERP ecosystems
Why this role matters
Enterprise accounting is entering its biggest platform shift in decades. Legacy software helped teams coordinate the work. Maxima automates the preparation work that makes closing hard in the first place.
As the platform grows to encompass more products and features, how we position each piece, how we launch what's next, and how well we understand what customers actually do with the product will define whether the market sees Maxima as a point solution or the system of work for enterprise account. This role sits at the center of that.
Why join us
Impact from day one: Help define how enterprise accounting understands agentic AI, across a genuinely differentiated product platform
Autonomy: High-agency environment. Ship fast, iterate faster, and own your work end-to-end
AI-native company: Join a team where AI is core to how we build products, create marketing, and operate every day
Competitive salary, equity, and benefits
Why join Maxima
The work. Agentic accounting is a category being defined right now, and Maxima is one of the companies defining it. The product does the accounting work itself, so what you build, sell, or deploy shows up in a customer's books
The people. Founders who ran the finance org at Rubrik and built the close systems at Twitter and Netflix. Engineers from Robinhood, Glean, Google, Netflix, and Meta. Controllers and accountants on the team who have closed books themselves. Small teams in San Mateo and Toronto that work in the same room, say what they think, and hold a high bar
The benefits. Competitive salary, 401(k) for US employees, unlimited PTO, lunch in the office, and commuter benefits
The process. A person reads every application, and we tell you where you stand at every stage
A note on AI
We build AI and we expect you to use it. Use it to research us and to prepare. In live conversations we want your own thinking in your own words, and if you use AI on a take-home exercise, tell us where it helped.
Equal opportunity
Maxima is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, ancestry, national origin, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, marital status, or any other legally protected status. If you need an accommodation at any point in the process, tell us and we will arrange it.
