The Opportunity:

CACI is preparing for an exciting modernization effort with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This new program will be a transformational initiative that will reshape how the VA manages acquisition, contracting, and enterprise-wide data. As the VA moves toward a modern, secure, and integrated CMS environment, our team will play a pivotal role in delivering the technology, expertise, and innovative problem solving required to support the nation’s veterans.

CACI is building a team of experts who thrive in challenging modernization environments as this program calls for high-impact technical leaders, forward-thinking engineers and mission-focused professionals. We are currently hiring an Appian Developer to join this dynamic team.

The Appian Developer will design, develop, and maintain Appian-based applications within Agile delivery pods supporting a Federal enterprise acquisition system modernization. This role requires strong technical skills in low-code platform development, experience with process automation and integrations, and the ability to work collaboratively with business analysts and technical teams to deliver scalable solutions serving 26,000+ users transitioning to a unified Appian-based platform.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop Appian applications including process models, interfaces, records, sites, integrations, and expression rules to meet Federal acquisition requirements
• Build and maintain Appian Connected Systems and Integration Objects to enable system-to-system data exchange with financial systems, Federal platforms, and internal applications
• Develop reusable components, data types, and expression rules to accelerate delivery and promote code consistency across delivery pods
• Collaborate with Appian Configuration Analysts, business analysts, and subject matter experts to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, demos, and retrospectives, contributing to sprint commitments and velocity
• Conduct unit testing, code reviews, and support integration testing, UAT, and defect resolution activities
• Optimize application performance through efficient query design, caching strategies, and Appian best practices
• Develop and maintain technical documentation including design specifications, API documentation, and deployment procedures
• Support deployment activities including application packaging, environment promotion, and release validation
• Mentor junior developers on Appian development best practices, design patterns, and Federal acquisition domain knowledge

Qualifications
Required

• US citizen with ability to pass Tier 2 background investigation

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field of study (3+ additional years of relevant IT experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
• 3-7 years of experience in software development, with at least 1 year of Appian development or low-code platform experience (Two levels:  mid-career = 3-5 years of experience; lead-level = 5+ years of experience)
• Experience developing applications using low-code/no-code platforms or business process management tools
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, object-oriented programming concepts, and database design
• Proficiency with web services, APIs, or system integration development
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to code quality and maintainability

Desired

• Appian Certified Associate Developer or Appian Certified Senior Developer certification
• Hands-on experience developing Appian applications (process models, interfaces, records, sites, integrations, expression rules)
• Experience supporting Federal government system modernization programs
• Knowledge of Federal acquisition lifecycle, contracting processes, or FAR/VAAR regulations
• Advanced SQL skills for database querying, optimization, and stored procedure development
• Prior experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and sprint-based delivery
• Programming experience (Java, JavaScript, Python) for advanced Appian customizations or extensions
• Familiarity with Azure cloud environments, SaaS application development, or containerization
• Experience with RESTful APIs, SOAP web services, or enterprise integration patterns
• Understanding of DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing
• Background in user experience design or Section 508 accessibility standards
• Experience with data migration, ETL processes, or data transformation logic

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$69,100-$141,500
