Amazon's Human Rights and Social Impact program drives customer trust, business continuity, and sustainable social impact by embedding respect for human rights and the environment throughout Amazon’s entire value chain. We implement company-wide standards and commitments such as our Global Human Rights Principles (GHRP) and Supply Chain Standards (SCS). We seek to continuously improve the tools and processes used in integrating human rights and environmental due diligence across the business.

The Human Rights Compliance Manager serves as the core case manager and case-level Single Threaded Leader (STL) within the Global Remediation and Investigation Team (GRIT), managing actual human rights and environmental impacts meeting Human Rights and Social Impact (HRSI) Escalation Criteria within AMET. This role combines technical human rights expertise with remediation design and oversight, investigation coordination, stakeholder management, and analytical problem-solving to ensure effective resolution of complex cases while maintaining rigorous documentation and data integrity standards. The role encompasses the full lifecycle of impact management: investigation, corrective action, remedy, and stakeholder response coordination.

Key job responsibilities
The Human Rights Compliance Manager serves as case-level Single Threaded Leader (STL) for supply chain impacts in Amazons supply chain, managing the full lifecycle from investigation through remedy and stakeholder response. They manage a diverse portfolio of human rights cases from intake through verification, including audit findings, external escalations, worker grievances, and non-audit sources. They assess risk and where needed facilitate investigation into allegations to substantiate and drive remediation within established SLA frameworks, making independent decisions on case approach and remediation plans with limited supervision.

They work directly with suppliers and service providers on remediation, implementing both corrective actions to address immediate issues and preventative measures to address root causes. They gather and verify evidence that audit findings and escalations are resolved, conducting site visits when necessary to provide on-site guidance and assess remediation effectiveness. They apply established frameworks and guidance while adapting to unique case circumstances, balancing thoroughness with efficiency to meet SLA requirements while maintaining quality standards. They contribute to the development of standardized remediation protocols and guidance materials based on case learnings.

The Human Rights Compliance Manager identifies trending issues across their caseload and elevates systemic concerns to Regional Remediation Leads for strategic intervention. They document comprehensive case records with clear rationale for decisions, maintaining rigorous data integrity in case management systems to support due diligence and trend analysis. They contribute to process improvement initiatives by providing feedback on SOPs, guidance materials, and frameworks based on operational learnings.

They collaborate with cross-functional teams including legal, PR, HR, and sourcing to drive alignment on remediation approaches and navigate competing stakeholder priorities. They may mentor entry-level specialists and support knowledge transfer through case shadowing and informal coaching.

Basic qualifications

• Experience in compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience with case management, issue resolution, or remediation programs
• Strong understanding of human rights principles, labor standards, and remediation methodologies
• Proven experience conducting investigations and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders (Legal, PR, HR, sourcing)
• Proven ability to engage with cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to identify patterns
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to document findings clearly
• Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously within SLA requirements
• Willingness to travel for supplier site visits as needed
• Proficiency with case management systems and data quality standards

Preferred qualifications

• Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials
• Fluent Hindi, Bengali or Nepali speaker
• Knowledge of international labor standards and human rights frameworks (ILO, UN Guiding Principles)
• Experience in global supply chains or manufacturing environments
• Experience with crisis communication or stakeholder coordination during escalations
• Proficiency with case management systems and data quality standards, with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously within SLA requirements
