About Us:

The people of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) are united by a singular mission: ending cancer for life. Our specialized care teams provide personalized, compassionate, expert care to patients of all ages. Informed by basic research done at our Sloan Kettering Institute, scientists across MSK collaborate to conduct innovative translational and clinical research that is driving a revolution in our understanding of cancer as a disease and improving the ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat it. MSK is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, who go on to pursue our mission at MSK and around the globe.

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Strategic Initiatives Manager

We are seeking a Strategic Initiatives Manager to join our Enterprise Growth and Business Development team! This is an opportunity to shape the future of MSK as a thought leader and project driver by guiding strategic planning, evaluating high-impact business opportunities, and enabling data-driven decisions that fuel growth.

In this role, you will partner with leaders to identify and execute strategic priorities while developing rigorous qualitative and quantitative analyses that inform key strategic initiatives. You’ll be part of a team that is passionate about solving complex, meaningful challenges that measurably impact the strategic direction of MSK.

Role Overview

  • Serve as an individual contributor to diverse teams that are tasked with developing and assessing new insights and ideas that will drive forward our strategy
  • Conduct high-quality analysis to drive strategic decisions, including the use of both quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into structured questions to drive hypothesis generation, issue structuring, and insight synthesis
  • Support execution of the enterprise strategic plan, monitor progress toward strategic goals, and enable communication across the organization
  • Create executive-ready presentation materials that translate complex analyses into clear and compelling narratives
  • Support the development of market position and competitor analyses, and other research as needed
  • Research and remain current on existing and evolving evidence-based strategic management methodology to ensure continuous improvement in the outcomes of the team

Example Projects:

  • MSK needs to understand patient activity and resource requirements over both the short term and long-term. How should we approach these projections? What different considerations are there in the short and long term? How should we handle uncertainty about the future both in our modeling and in our communication?
  • MSK is developing a long term strategy for growth across prioritized service lines. What are potential opportunities for growth? What factors could drive growth? How will market and competitor trends shape our approach?

Key Qualifications

  • Experience in a strategic, consulting, or analytic position
  • Demonstrated skills in strategy development, strategic planning and/or business development
  • Strong experience with Excel tools and functions (Pivot Tables, vLookup, etc.)
  • Experience with SQL or a dashboarding tool (Tableau or PowerBI) a plus
  • Highly developed leadership facilitation, communication, planning, and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to take ambiguous information and translate it into high-quality analyses to support enterprise wide decision making

Core Skills

  • A critical thinker and problem solver with an ability to engage in strategic thinking, hypothesis development, and high-quality analysis
  •  Curiosity, self-motivation, and a strong desire to use your skills to help MSK’s leaders make better decisions
  • A good decision-maker, with proven success making timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward
  • Skilled at building partnerships across all levels of the business and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives and goals
  • An effective communicator, capable of determining how to best reach different audiences
  • Willing to act and eager to embrace new challenges

How Openbound evaluates sponsorship

Visa history uses official U.S. Department of Labor H-1B LCA disclosure data and USCIS H-1B petition history. Green card history uses DOL PERM disclosure data. Each is read for the employer as a whole, for roles like this one, and for this location, weighted toward the most recent fiscal years.

An employer is matched to its filing entities by verified legal name and reviewed aliases; a match is never made on a name resemblance alone. Where no verified entity can be matched, the page says so and draws no conclusion from the absence. 125 filing titles were examined for this employer.

What this posting states outranks history in both directions, and an employer's published policy outranks past filings. Filing history reflects past behavior; it is not a promise of sponsorship for this opening, and none of this is legal advice.
