The Strategic Customers Engineering team manages Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's most important and fastest-growing customer relationships. In Japan, these customers include government agencies, regulated industries, and large enterprises pursuing cloud transformation through sovereign and dedicated cloud deployments.

In addition to the public cloud offerings, Oracle's Dedicated Region Cloud @ Customer (DRCC) and Alloy offerings are central to this strategy, enabling customers to consume OCI services while meeting stringent requirements around data residency, sovereignty, security, compliance, and operational control.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Director (M5) to join the Strategic Customers Engineering organization within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. This executive leadership role will be based in Japan and will focus on Oracle's most strategic customers in the Japan and Asia Pacific market, with customer engineering responsibility for public cloud, AI Infrastructure, OCI Distributed Region Cloud (DRCC) and Oracle Alloy initiatives.

The Senior Director will lead a high-performing product management and engineering organization that partners with senior customer executives, internal engineering teams, and Oracle leadership to define product strategy, drive execution, and ensure successful delivery of dedicated cloud solutions. This role will help shape OCI's cloud roadmap, influence product investment priorities, and accelerate adoption among strategic customers in the region.

The successful candidate will combine deep cloud expertise, strong product leadership capabilities, and exceptional stakeholder management skills across both Japanese and global teams.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Director in the OCI Strategic Customer Engineering team, you will lead teams responsible for defining product strategy, customer engineering requirements, and roadmap priorities for OCI solutions. You will gather and analyze customer and market requirements, drive alignment across engineering and business stakeholders, and ensure successful delivery of strategic initiatives.

What You'll Do

Lead customer engineering and operations

- Lead customer engineering teams that translate customer technical requirements into solution designs, implementation plans, and operational readiness criteria for OCI, DRCC, and Alloy deployments.

- Ensure customer environments meet agreed technical, security, compliance, performance, availability, and support requirements throughout the solution lifecycle.

- Partner with customer engineering and operations teams, OCI engineering, support, and service delivery to resolve technical risks, manage escalations, and drive continuous operational improvement.

- Drive cross-functional alignment across product, engineering, operations, support, sales, and executive leadership.

- Ensure successful execution of large-scale customer programs and strategic cloud deployments.

Own portfolio strategy

- Define the vision, strategic direction, and multi-year roadmap for OCI DRCC and Alloy offerings supporting strategic customers in Japan.

- Drive product investments that address Japan and Asia Pacific market requirements, including sovereignty, compliance, security, and operational needs.

- Partner with OCI leadership to influence long-term product direction and regional growth strategies.

Champion the customer experience

- Build trusted relationships with executive stakeholders across government, public sector, financial services, telecommunications, and enterprise customers.

- Establish strong customer feedback mechanisms and translate insights into product priorities and roadmap decisions.

- Act as a senior advocate for Japanese customer requirements within OCI's global product organization.

Develop world-class PM and engineering talent

- Hire, coach, and develop a high-performing team of product managers, engineers and leaders.

- Foster a culture of customer obsession, operational excellence, and continuous innovation.

Operate with rigor

- Establish metrics, OKRs, and operating rhythms to measure business impact, customer success, and product adoption.

- Drive executive-level reviews and strategic planning processes.

Establish and maintain trust

- Ensure products meet enterprise expectations for security, privacy, compliance, governance, and operational excellence.

- Support customer requirements related to sovereign cloud, regulatory compliance, and mission-critical workloads.

Required Qualifications

- 10+ years of experience in software development, cloud technologies, infrastructure platforms, or related technical domains.

- 5+ years of experience in product management, program management, or technical leadership roles.

- 3+ years of experience in a senior leadership role managing managers and cross-functional organizations.

- Demonstrated experience working with cloud infrastructure, platform services, or enterprise technology products.

- Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive alignment across complex organizations.

- Native-level Japanese language proficiency (spoken and written).

- Business-level English proficiency, with the ability to communicate effectively with global engineering, product, and executive teams.

- Experience engaging with senior customer executives and strategic enterprise accounts in Japan.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with government, public sector, regulated industry, or mission-critical enterprise customers.

- Strong understanding of cloud architecture, infrastructure services, security, compliance, and data sovereignty requirements.

- Experience with dedicated cloud, sovereign cloud, hybrid cloud, or managed cloud solutions.

- Demonstrated success driving large-scale strategic customer programs and cloud adoption initiatives.

- Strong technical fluency and ability to collaborate deeply with engineering leadership.

-MBA is a plus
