Spa Therapist / Ayurveda Wellness Specialist - Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi

The Spa Therapist / Ayurveda Wellness Specialist is responsible for delivering exceptional and personalized spa, wellness, and Ayurvedic treatments to guests in accordance with the standards and service philosophy of Waldorf Astoria Spa. The role requires comprehensive knowledge and practical expertise in a range of massage techniques, Ayurvedic therapies, wellness rituals, and body treatments.

The Spa Therapist / Ayurveda Wellness Specialist should have a strong understanding of holistic wellness, Ayurveda principles, beauty and body treatments, and be capable of delivering specialized treatments and experiences unique to Waldorf Astoria Spa. He/she is expected to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, hygiene, guest care, and service excellence while tailoring treatments to individual guest needs.

The successful candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrate a genuine passion for wellness, and be committed to continuously developing their knowledge of Ayurvedic practices, spa products, and treatment protocols to effectively provide personalized wellness solutions and memorable guest experiences.

Responsibilities

Specifically, as a Spa Therapist / Ayurveda Wellness Specialist for Waldorf Astoria Maldives you will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

Main Duties:

• Adhere to the customer-first purpose and promptly attend to guests’ needs, ensuring a personalized and memorable wellness experience.
• Greet all guests with a warm, friendly, and sincere smile, creating a welcoming and relaxing spa environment.
• Deliver professional spa, massage, Ayurvedic, and wellness treatments in accordance with established treatment protocols and Waldorf Astoria Spa standards.
• Conduct appropriate guest consultations to understand individual needs, preferences, wellness goals, and any relevant treatment considerations before providing services.
• Recommend suitable treatments, therapies, and wellness experiences based on guests’ individual requirements and preferences.
• Possess sound knowledge of Ayurvedic principles, massage techniques, body treatments, wellness practices, and spa products, and continuously develop professional expertise.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with guests and colleagues, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all times.
• Provide attentive and personalized service throughout each treatment, ensuring guest comfort, privacy, safety, and satisfaction.
• Understand and respond appropriately to guest requests, feedback, and concerns, escalating matters to the appropriate supervisor or manager when required.
• Maintain a positive, responsible, and proactive approach to resolving guest and operational challenges.
• Adhere to Hilton service standards, Waldorf Astoria brand standards, spa treatment protocols, and service quality requirements at all times.
• Ensure that all activities and services performed within the Spa, Fitness Centre, treatment rooms, and related wellness areas comply with Hilton and Waldorf Astoria standards.
• Maintain the highest standards of personal presentation, hygiene, cleanliness, and sanitation in treatment rooms, workstations, and all assigned areas.
• Ensure the proper preparation, use, storage, and handling of spa products, oils, equipment, and treatment supplies.
• Ensure that spa products and supplies are properly monitored, with monthly inventory checks conducted and stock levels maintained appropriately.
• Receive and verify spa products and supplies upon arrival, ensuring they are stored correctly and in accordance with required procedures.
• Ensure products are appropriately managed and used within their designated shelf life, with regular checks to prevent expired or unsuitable products from being used.
• Ensure the smooth and efficient completion of daily spa opening and closing procedures.
• Maintain treatment rooms and service areas in a clean, organized, hygienic, and guest-ready condition at all times.
• Be flexible and responsive to changing operational requirements, guest preferences, and business needs.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and actively contribute to achieving departmental goals and maintaining a positive team environment.
• Assist with the training, coaching, and orientation of new team members, particularly in relation to treatment procedures, service standards, guest handling, and spa operations.
• Provide feedback and recommendations to management regarding spa operations, treatment offerings, guest experience, and opportunities for service or facility improvements.
• Actively promote wellness experiences and relevant spa treatments while maintaining a consultative and guest-focused approach.
• Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality professional services, creating relaxing, authentic, and memorable wellness experiences for every guest.

• High School graduate / recognized beauty school or institution certified. 

• Minimum 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

• Good interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction.   

• Able to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods. 

• Must be physically fit and able to work long hours.

• Candidate must have a good command of spoken and written English. Fluency in another language is an advantage.

• Possess basic knowledge of all spa treatments, services fitness services and retail products available in the Spa & Fitness department.
