The data layers of analytics, storage, governance, are the foundation for AI. Enterprises across ASEAN are at an inflection point: modernizing legacy data estates, adopting new data architectures, and establishing the data foundations required to run AI in production. As a Senior Data Sales Specialist in our ASEAN Sales organisation, you will own the conversation data stack across databases, analytics, storage, and governance and connect it to AI. You will be the primary field expert helping ASEAN's customers design and adopt modern data platforms on AWS, while driving revenue across the integrated data portfolio.

You'll operate at CXO level (CIO, CDO, CTO) and well as the builders within our customers, leading with a point of view, and help customers see the architecture that solves their business problem.

Key job responsibilities
Sales Specialists are the ultimate owner of the revenue and success goals of the Country that they are assigned to. Sales Specialists are empowered as GMs to 1/pursue, create and develop opportunities across the data stack 2/proactively grow usage and revenue for their specific service group within a defined country by executing known working sales plays.

Sell the platform. Position AWS as an integrated data foundation connecting operational databases, open lakehouse analytics, governance, and into the AI layer.

Navigate competitive dynamics with third-party data platforms. Bring clarity to account teams on when to compete vs. collaborate.

Educate account teams on data messaging and competitive positioning. Partner with BD/GTM specialists and Solutions Architects to accelerate data opportunities within strategic customer segments and key accounts.

Meet or exceed annual revenue targets by building and managing pipeline. Maintain a robust, - Develop strategic customer relationships. Build trust-based relationships with senior technology and business leaders across ASEAN's most important accounts.

Basic qualifications

• 10+ years of enterprise commercial sales experience
• Experience identifying, developing, negotiating, and closing large-scale technology deals
• 3+ years of direct field sales experience across two or more of: databases, analytics, storage, data governance, or data platform solutions.
• Technical fluency - able to whiteboard a modern data architecture, engage credibly with engineering teams, and translate business priorities into solution designs.
• Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to engage CXO-level stakeholders.
• Experience selling into ASEAN markets or comparable multi-country territories.

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
• Experience selling data platforms, cloud databases, analytics, or data lake solutions.
• Familiarity with competitive landscape: Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Google BigQuery.
• Experience driving adoption of open-source data technologies (e.g., Apache Iceberg, Apache Spark, PostgreSQL).
• Track record selling to C-level executives in ASEAN enterprise organizations, particularly CIO, CDO, and CTO.
• Experience working cross-functionally with Solutions Architecture, Professional Services, and Partner teams to land complex deals.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity - this role requires you to build the playbook, not just run it.
