Senior Hybrid Turboshaft Systems/Integration
Job description
Archer is an aerospace and defense company headquartered in San Jose, California, building the aircraft and technology that will define the next era of flight. The company works across air taxis, UAS, AI and powertrain development — building real-world systems that combine software intelligence with physical hardware. That includes Midnight, Archer's all-electric air taxi; Halo, an autonomous vertical takeoff and landing aircraft built for both commercial and defense use; and ZEE, Archer's AI foundation model built specifically for aviation. We’re seeking exceptional engineers, operators and builders to join us on our mission to build the future of aerospace and defense.
Our sights are set high and our problems are hard, and we believe that diversity in the workplace is what makes us smarter, drives better insights, and will ultimately lift us all to success. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.
What you’ll do:
- Own the integrated hybrid powertrain verification
- Take the systems engineering inputs of a turboshaft / turbogenerator powertrain system including batteries, motors and other complex mechanical parts and verify the system through test
- Own the verification of the turbogenerator on the test-bench and into the aircraft including the start of the flight test campaign
- Contribute to the design reviews of the turbogenerator in providing expert test and operation knowledge
- Manage suppliers, engineers and other stakeholders to ensure verification can happen safely and on time
- Ensure 3rd party stakeholders deliver on-time
- Ensure all verification activities can be performed safely
What you’ll need:
- BS / MS / PhD in a related scientific or engineering field.
- 10+ years experience in complex system verification
- Ability to operate quickly and to tight timelines in ensuring testing happens on time and can provide sufficient
- Strong fundamentals and demonstrated understanding of systems engineering

- Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience writing comprehensive technical reports and documents.
Nice to have:
- Prior experience with hybrid-electric aircraft, eVTOLs, or hybrid automotive powertrains
- Prior experience with turboshafts, turbines and turbogenerators
- Familiarity with FAA or EASA certification
- Knowledge of simulation model validation, model calibration, and uncertainty quantification methods
