Position Summary:

ultrainnovative – Tackle rare and dynamic challenges

The candidate will work as a Scientist I within a small team focused on all technical disciplines of Protein Sciences, from vector/construct design and synthesis, protein expression, purification, and characterization. The candidate will primarily support protein expression and characterization activities, including stable cell line generation and evaluation of critical protein attributes using various biochemical and analytical techniques.

Work Model:

Core Lab & Ops: This role typically requires that the majority of the work be conducted on-site.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance of multiple cell lines in parallel (including HEK293 and CHO).

• Manage cell line repository and maintain vector and giga prep inventories.

• Develop and optimize transient and stable cell line methods using conventional or novel strategies to enhance protein production capacity.

• Generate stable pools and cell lines to support translational research programs.

• Generate reagent cell lines for downstream assay development and functional potency assays.

• Evaluate protein expression with appropriate biochemical and analytical techniques, including but not limited to SDS-PAGE, Western blot, and ELISA.

• Evaluate critical quality attributes and stability of a protein using various analytical techniques, including but not limited to Size Exclusion Chromatography, Reverse Phase Chromatography, Ion Exchange Chromatography, DLS, and Tm.

• Evaluate and develop functional assays including but not limited to binding kinetics and epitope binning using SPR and BLI technologies.

• Maintain a record of experiments, results, and standard operating protocols with a high degree of thoughtfulness and traceability.

• Present data in team meetings and contribute to manuscripts/publications and patent applications, where applicable.

Requirements:

• evel commensurate with academic and/or biopharmaceutical experience and depth of subject matter expertise

• A bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Biochemistry, Protein Chemistry, or a related discipline with 5-8 years of related experience.

• Experience in mammalian protein expression using transient transfection and stable cell line generation, including practical experience with mammalian cell culture techniques, including sterile technique, passaging, and banking cells.

• Hands-on experience with various protein purification techniques.

• Experience with SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, ELISA, and other protein quantitation techniques.

• Experience with analytical techniques including but not limited to Size Exclusion Chromatography and Reverse Phase Chromatography.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills, team player, and ability to work effectively in a dynamic and collaborative environment
• A high level of initiative, a strong sense of responsibility, enthusiasm for learning, and the ability to learn new techniques are required.

• Stand for extended periods of time with periodic stooping/bending/kneeling

• Able to lift, push, pull up to 50lbs.

• Climb ladders and stairs of various heights.

• Work in a lab environment requiring special protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet, and body. This role requires the ability to wear personal protective equipment.
• Certain tasks may require use of a respirator; medical clearance will be required in advance.

The typical annual salary range for this full-time position is listed below. This range reflects the characteristics of the job, such as required skills and qualifications and is based on the office location noted in this job posting. The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.
