Structural Steel Fitter / Layout Technician

Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift Available
Starting Pay: $28.00/hour + $3.00/hour shift differential for 2nd shift (higher based on experience)
Position Overview
We are hiring an experienced Structural Steel Fitter / Layout Technician to support shop fabrication operations. This position is responsible for steel layout, fitting, assembly, dimensional checks, and preparing components for production.
Responsibilities
Review and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications
Perform layout, fitting, alignment, and assembly of structural steel
Measure and mark materials according to job specifications
Position and secure steel components for accurate assembly
Set up and operate fabrication equipment, including a track torch
Verify dimensions, fit-up, and component placement
Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and specification compliance
Coordinate with supervisors and fabrication team members to meet production schedules
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Follow established shop safety procedures and production practices
Qualifications
Previous experience in structural steel fitting, layout, or fabrication
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Hands-on experience fitting, aligning, and assembling structural steel components
Ability to set up and operate a track torch
Working knowledge of welding processes, fabrication equipment, and shop tools
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
Ability to work effectively with a team
Willingness to follow required safety procedures
AWS or other welding certifications are a plus
