You will be the Packaging Engineer for the Packaging Engineering team. Our team is responsible for designing, developing, and testing packaging solutions while ensuring regulatory compliance and optimizing cost and performance.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Packaging Engineer you will be responsible for creating and validating container designs that protect products during handling and transport, collaborating with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and maintaining documentation in line with GMP and regulatory standards.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Design and test packaging containers for diverse product requirements.

Develop specifications that meet cost, legal, and environmental constraints.

Coordinate with suppliers, shipping, and IPTs to implement packaging solutions.

Manage documentation and ensure compliance with GMP, DOT, and contractual clauses.

Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives for packaging efficiency.

Basic Qualifications

Ability to lift 35 pounds

An active U.S. Department of Defense SECRET Security Clearance.

Education/Experience: Minimum 1 – 2 years of packaging/transportation engineering experience; associate degree or technical training in engineering, logistics, or a related field.

Packaging and Transportation Engineering Experience: 1–2 years of experience supporting packaging, shipping, transportation, logistics, depot, or related engineering activities; associate degree, technical training, or equivalent relevant experience preferred.

Packaging Standards and Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of DOT 49 CFR hazardous material requirements, ICAO Dangerous Goods Regulations, IMDG Code requirements, ASTM D3951 commercial packaging practices, Special Packaging Instructions (SPI), and Performance Oriented Packaging (POP) testing concepts.

Technical and Mechanical Aptitude: Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, packaging requirements, inspection criteria, and shipping documentation.

Shipping and HAZMAT Practices: Familiarity with basic shipping processes, packaging inspections, hazardous material handling, documentation, and preparation of hardware for domestic and international transportation.

Software and Communication Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to effectively coordinate technical requirements with engineering, suppliers, shipping personnel, logistics organizations, and other cross-functional teams.

Desired Skills

Communication and Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop clear technical documentation and presentations and work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Relevant Sustainment Experience: 3–5 years of experience in Field Service, Depot Operations, Contractor Logistics Support, Depot Maintenance Engineering, or a similar sustainment environment.

Weapons System Experience: Previous experience supporting an Air-to-Air missile system or comparable complex military system.

Technical Interpretation and Troubleshooting: Demonstrated ability to interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, schematics, interface specifications, and system-level requirements, and apply troubleshooting, fault detection, and fault isolation techniques

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $70500.00 - $130900.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
