Amazon is looking for a Tax Analyst to join PCS (Product Classification Service) Operations team in Bratislava, Slovakia as part of the Global Tax Engine Operations. This team plays a key role in defining the correct tax rate (sales tax, VAT, service tax, regulatory fees and other consumption taxes) of products Amazon is selling on its marketplaces and other e-commerce platforms.

We are looking for a smart, passionate candidate who would join our team with focus on regulatory fees and other special impositions across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will be a detail oriented individual, with proven analytical skills and passion for delivering actionable insights to key stakeholders. We are functioning as a detached program which as a final product delivers automatic calculation solution for each specific fee in our scope. The team provide end-to-end calculation solution starting with legislative research, product identification process (within Amazon catalog), feasibility accuracy analyses, testing and automatic solution deployments ending with post-launch monitoring activities.

Key job responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of regulatory fee calculation projects. From legislative research and feasibility analysis through to deployment and post-launch monitoring.
• Contribute to the team's product roadmap by identifying gaps in regulatory fee coverage and proposing prioritised solutions for new fee types or jurisdictions,
• Define and track success metrics for deployed calculation solutions, using data to drive continuous improvement.
• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives that increase operational efficiency and reduce manual effort across the team's workflows.

• Evaluate potential downstream and upstream implications of new and existing collection solutions.
• Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Legal, and Product teams to translate regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Communicate effectively to various business teams across multiple time zones.
• Deploy, enhance, and maintain regulatory fee calculations globally.
• Proactively identify emerging regulatory trends and legislative changes, providing recommendations to leadership on strategic implications and required actions.

A day in the life
This role is dynamic and agile and requires daily work with global Amazon Tax Teams to build the most efficient solution, compliant with regulatory requirements for all products available across Amazon businesses. Additionally, this role will require ability to dive deep into the legislation and product details understanding the requirements to be compliant. Scope of the role may expand according to team's needs and additional experience skillset of the candidate to suit the individual's personal development and career goals. Invention and ability to streamline processes, including participation in overall strategy and vision of our team is a part of daily routine.

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
• Experience in international indirect tax planning and strong understanding of or practical experience with tax laws in other countries
• Knowledge of strong understanding of tax compliance principles, regulations, and reporting requirements across jurisdictions
• Knowledge of general AI tools
• 5+ years experience in indirect tax/finance environment or practical experience with indirect tax laws in other countries

Preferred qualifications

• Experience researching indirect tax issues including taxability of products and services
• Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field
• Knowledge of at least one data-focused technology tool, such as Python, SQL, Alteryx, Amazon QuickSight, or similar

The minimum gross base pay salary for this position is listed below. The base salary listed corresponds to working on a full time basis. For part-time hours, the salary will be pro-rated.

Amazon reserves the right to offer a higher base salary, depending on the candidate's skills, competencies, and experience. Amazon's package may include a sign on payment. In addition, the candidate may be eligible to participate in a restricted stock unit scheme operated independently by Amazon.com Inc. in USA. Your recruiting team will share final salary and any restricted stock unit scheme if applicable, depending on skills and requirements.
