Receptionist
Job description
Stanford University is seeking a Receptionist to greet and direct visitors, answer telephone and perform general clerical and customer service work in support of an office, department, school or unit.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Frequently sitting.
- Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl.

Responsibilities
Core Duties
:
Greet, sign in and route visitors to appropriate individuals.
Answer phones and serve as a resource on unit procedures and general inquiries.
Maintain employee and department directories.
Ensure adherence to security by following procedures; monitor logbook; issue visitor badges.
Maintain safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Schedule conference rooms and/or permits as appropriate.
Sort and distribute mail. Receive and sign for delivery of packages.
Maintain the general filing system.
Monitor the use of supplies and equipment.
May be responsible for petty cash.
May serve as the point of contact for general maintenance, health and safety, and other facility concerns within the unit(s).
Minimum Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
:
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
Strong telephone skills.
Demonstrated professionalism, maturity and tact.
Basic computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to follow through and complete assigned tasks.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
