Finance Manager, Amazon Air Ground Finance

Own the financial engine of Amazon Air's ground network as a Finance Manager on the Ground Finance team. Ground Finance covers the airport locations where Amazon Air runs its sort centers and ramp operations for aircraft, the physical points where the network's cost is incurred every day. This is a high-impact controllership role that pairs rigorous budget ownership and site financial management with the modeling depth and business partnership that shape how a multi-billion dollar air network spends and scales. You will be the financial owner of your ground sites, working shoulder to shoulder with the site leaders who run them to hold the cost line, sharpen the budget, and turn operational reality into decisions that reduce cost to serve.

You will be the controller your site leaders depend on and the modeler leadership turns to when the questions get hard, diving deep into the cost drivers behind ground operations, framing the trade-offs that matter, and challenging the organization to find better, more affordable ways to run the network. Key job responsibilities
Controllership & Budget Ownership: Own the budget, financial performance, and controllership of your ground sites. Manage spend against plan, investigate variances to root cause, and execute financial processes with the attention to detail and controls compliance the role demands.

Site Leadership Partnership: Serve as the embedded finance partner to your site leaders, earning a seat at the table as they run their sort and ramp operations. Build the trust that brings finance in early, and translate the financial picture into decisions on labor, spend, and performance.

Robust Modeling & Business Partnership: Build and maintain the financial models that answer difficult business questions and support senior management decisions. Translate operational change into budgets and forecasts that keep pace with a fast-evolving network.

Cost Management & Continuous Improvement: Dive deep into the operational drivers behind ground cost to surface the "why" behind performance. Partner with site leadership to improve labor efficiency and reduce cost to serve, bringing a Think Big mindset to structural opportunities.

A day in the life
Your typical day is that of a hands-on site controller with the reach of a strategic finance partner. You will manage your budget and review the financial metrics for your sites, identify the variances and trends that matter, and develop the insights that help leadership understand the financial health of operations. You will spend real time with your site leaders, in their operations and in their planning, so that finance is a partner in the decision rather than a scorekeeper after it. You will spend time in your models, pressure-testing assumptions and framing spend trade-offs, and in the room with operations partners where your analysis shapes decisions. Throughout, you will look for the next opportunity to reduce cost to serve while holding the controllership standards Amazon Air is built on.

Basic qualifications

• 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience
• Bachelor's degree

Preferred qualifications

• 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
• 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
• MBA, or CPA
• Knowledge of SQL/ETL
• Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
• Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
