Job description

Amazon is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to join the Global Corporate Procurement (GCP) Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a team that has a meaningful and measurable impact on Amazon’s success. At Amazon, our vision is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Our passion for invention leads us to pioneer and globalize new businesses and customer offerings daily. As we rapidly become the world’s largest consumer of services in many categories, the Corporate Procurement team is fueling our explosive growth by identifying innovative sourcing strategies and negotiating sustainable, long-term partnerships. We are seeking a skilled Strategic Sourcing Manager with experience leading complex sourcing initiatives across Employee Services.

Key leadership traits required include the ability to influence and form partnerships with business leaders, and operational excellence in managing multiple complex and competing priorities simultaneously. Strategic Sourcing Managers are expert practitioners in the tools for creating competitive environments and have a bias for decision-making rooted in data and analytics. They routinely influence vendor relationships by advising Amazon leaders across multiple stakeholder groups on the direction of sourcing projects in support of business goals. If you are looking for a new challenge in a fast-paced, innovative company, come make history with Amazon’s Global Corporate Procurement department.

At Amazon, we believe that in-person collaboration is essential to our culture and innovation. While we allow flexibility for personal circumstances, we generally expect employees to work from our offices five days a week. This approach has consistently shown that spontaneous interactions, rapid problem-solving, and the energy of in-person teamwork led to better results for our customers. Our data shows that teams working together in person are more effective at making complex decisions, onboarding new team members, and fostering the kind of creative collaboration that has driven Amazon's success. The serendipitous hallway conversations and impromptu whiteboarding sessions that happen naturally in an office environment have proven invaluable to our invention process and maintaining our high bar for excellence.

Key job responsibilities

  • Establishing strong relationships with internal business stakeholders; building a strong understanding of strategic business direction, requirements and priorities across assigned suppliers and/or spend categories
  • Dive deep across multiple business units to leverage our supplier base with the goal of optimizing performance, quality, and cost
  • Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models and benchmarking; leveraging key-insights to inform and support the strategic sourcing strategy development process
  • Managing the fundamentals of sourcing and supplier engagement activities including RFx, spend pattern analysis, contract analysis, bid evaluation, negotiations, and supplier consolidation
  • Identifying sourcing opportunities by leveraging spend analysis tools and engage with stakeholders to consolidate requirements over categories, suppliers and geographies
  • Work with business and finance leaders to identify and drive savings and controllership improvements, optimizing the return on investment and total cost of ownership
  • Providing guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement processes and best-practice tools, such as category management, supplier evaluation and supplier diversity

A day in the life
Your morning might start with a cross-functional alignment call for an upcoming RFP involving three business units, followed by analyzing bid responses and building a recommendation deck for senior leadership. After lunch, you're on a negotiation call with a strategic supplier's C-suite to finalize contract terms, then pivoting to a spend review with Finance to validate savings actuals against targets. You'll close the day by coaching a business partner through the supplier evaluation framework for an upcoming engagement. No two days look the same — you'll balance long-range strategic planning with hands-on execution, often managing five or more active sourcing engagements simultaneously across different stages of the lifecycle.

About the team
Global Corporate Procurement (GCP) manages Amazon's indirect spend across Employee Services, Marketing, Professional Services, Technology, Logistics, and Real Estate & Facilities. We're a global team of sourcing professionals who combine analytical rigor with creative problem-solving to deliver sustainable value at scale. Our culture values deep ownership, intellectual curiosity, and a bias for action — we move fast, but we move smart. You'll be joining a team where your work is visible to senior leadership and directly tied to Amazon's bottom line.

Basic qualifications

  • Experience in an indirect procurement function at a multinational corporation
  • Proficiency in best-in-class procurement processes, including category management, benchmarking, should-cost modeling, RFx, reverse auctions, and contract development
  • Experience managing multiple indirect spend categories, some of which may include the following: IT Software, IT Services, Corporate Services, Marketing, Contingent Labor, Facilities and Real Estate, Capital Expenditure, and Human Resources/Employee Services
  • 5+ years of experience developing, leading, negotiating, and executing end-to-end sourcing engagements
  • Demonstrated experience in Employee Services and HR-related procurement, including sourcing and managing spend in areas such as HR Services, Employee Benefits, and/or Pharmacy/Drug Programs, with a track record in vendor strategy development, competitive bidding, and contract negotiations

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in project management
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

How Openbound evaluates sponsorship

Visa history uses official U.S. Department of Labor H-1B LCA disclosure data and USCIS H-1B petition history. Green card history uses DOL PERM disclosure data. Each is read for the employer as a whole, for roles like this one, and for this location, weighted toward the most recent fiscal years.

An employer is matched to its filing entities by verified legal name and reviewed aliases; a match is never made on a name resemblance alone. Where no verified entity can be matched, the page says so and draws no conclusion from the absence. 705 filing titles were examined for this employer.

What this posting states outranks history in both directions, and an employer's published policy outranks past filings. Filing history reflects past behavior; it is not a promise of sponsorship for this opening, and none of this is legal advice.
