The impact you’ll make

Join Lam as a Cost Performance Engineering team member where you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the NPI teams costing function. Using your knowledge of manufacturing, produce performance, technology and costing principles you will oversee the Costing of processes, and operations at Supplier end. You'll tackle cost reduction challenges. Your expertise optimizing manufacturing costs and standards helps shape Lam's commitment to innovation and efficiency in manufacturing.

In this role, you will directly contribute to NPI efficiency and cost competitiveness.

What you’ll do

• Should costing of built to print complex mechanical parts (Metal machining, Sheetmetal, weldments, plastics etc) and assemblies
• Troubleshoot new or existing costing challenges through problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
• Designs, develops and implements costing practices.
• Reviews and develops designs that improve product manufacturability and assembly.
• Coordinate new product builds in pilot production manufacturing partnering closely with manufacturing and product engineers.
• Review engineering drawings & bill of materials (BOM) for costing purposes.
• Participate in design reviews and provide Design feedback to improve manufacturability and cost.
• Performs Tear down and Benchmarking Analysis for Large and complex assemblies
• Performs PS&DM to solve complex problems
• Coordinate new product builds in pilot production manufacturing partnering closely with manufacturing and product engineers.
• Create and release engineering drawings & bill of materials (BOM) using Engineering Change Management process.
• Development of handoff package to allow product transition to high volume manufacturing.

Who we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering with 8 years of experience or Diploma in related field with 10+ years experience
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes with practical exposure to shop floor operations and production environments
• Proficient in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Cost (DFC) approach
• Working knowledge in Operation Method Sheets (OMS), process planning, and Bill of Materials (BOM) Management.

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of Semiconductor equipment, Capital Equipment industry and its manufacturing processes.
• Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in English.
• Statistical analysis skills including statistical process control and data analysis used in production setting.
• Knowledge in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA).
• Expertise on costing applications like aPriori.
• Proven stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders or customers in technical matters.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
