  • Collaborate with biomedical engineers, clinicians, scientists, laboratory personnel, and hardware engineers to define system requirements and translate them into robust software solutions.

  • Contribute to system architecture decisions spanning embedded systems, instrumentation, cloud platforms, and user-facing applications.

  • Execute healthcare interoperability including EMR integration, HL7, FHIR, leverage healthcare interoperability frameworks including IHE and DICOM, implement laboratory analytical workflows.

  • Implement and optimize software for real-time control, sensor integration, data acquisition, signal processing, analytics, and monitoring applications.

  • Develop APIs, cloud services, and secure data pipelines supporting healthcare, diagnostic, and scientific workflows.

  • Develop scalable machine learning and data-processing solutions for detection, classification, analytical, or diagnostic applications.

  • Support the development of software that meets quality, reliability, and traceability expectations commonly found in regulated industries. Participate in software verification, validation, documentation, and continuous improvement activities.

Technical Requirements

Strong candidates will possess many of the following qualifications:

Software Development

  • Expert-level proficiency in Python and modern software development frameworks (FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLModel, PyTorch, or similar).

  • Experience developing software for medical devices, diagnostic instruments, laboratory equipment, healthcare technologies, scientific instrumentation, or other mission-critical systems.

  • Experience developing and maintaining production software across Linux-based embedded devices, Windows, and macOS environments.

  • Strong understanding of hardware/software integration, instrument control, device communications, and sensor-driven systems.

  • Implementation of LIS/LIMS, EHR/EMR, VNA/PACS integrations with systems like Epic Beaker, Mirth, Oracle Cerner.

Data & Cloud Technologies

  • Hands-on experience with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, DICOM.

  • Extensive experience with relational databases such as MySQL, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB, including schema design, migrations, and ORM/ODM troubleshooting.

  • Experience designing and scaling cloud-based applications using AWS, Kubernetes, and modern observability/monitoring solutions.

  • Experience building distributed machine learning training and inference systems using Ray or comparable distributed computing frameworks.

  • Experience implementing secure architectures for healthcare, scientific and regulated data environments.

Software Engineering Excellence

  • Experience with GitHub CI/CD, containerization, Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK, Terraform), automated testing, and deployment pipelines.

  • Demonstrated expertise in performance optimization, scalability, load testing, software distribution, and application security.

  • Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, reliability engineering, and full-stack application development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing software within a regulated medical device, diagnostics, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or laboratory environment.

  • Familiarity with software quality and regulatory frameworks such as:  FDA medical device development processes, IEC 62304 (Medical Device Software), ISO 13485, Design Controls, Software Verification & Validation (V&V), Software as a Medical Device (SaMD)

How Openbound evaluates sponsorship

Visa history uses official U.S. Department of Labor H-1B LCA disclosure data and USCIS H-1B petition history. Green card history uses DOL PERM disclosure data. Each is read for the employer as a whole, for roles like this one, and for this location, weighted toward the most recent fiscal years.

An employer is matched to its filing entities by verified legal name and reviewed aliases; a match is never made on a name resemblance alone. Where no verified entity can be matched, the page says so and draws no conclusion from the absence. 147 filing titles were examined for this employer.

What this posting states outranks history in both directions, and an employer's published policy outranks past filings. Filing history reflects past behavior; it is not a promise of sponsorship for this opening, and none of this is legal advice.
