We have an ambitious goal: to be the most admired brand in the Fortune 500 and we aim to deliver on that by doing work that is both creative and effective. The Global Brand Strategy & Insights (GBSI) team sits within GABM. We are responsible for accelerating brand consideration globally by delivering robust insights, transformative brand strategies, and key capabilities for marketers across the organization.

The Vice President, Amex Insights & Operations leads strategic insights engagements for B2B and enterprise business partners across American Express and oversees the Operations function for Amex Insights. This leader partners with senior executives to translate complex business challenges into actionable customer insights that inform product, marketing, customer experience, and growth strategies, while leading the governance, operating model and agency partnerships needed to deliver high-quality insights efficiently and at scale.

This is a unique opportunity to help define the future of insights at American Express -building a more proactive, technology-enabled and consultative organization that moves beyond answering research questions to anticipating business needs, shaping strategy, and improving the quality and speed of enterprise decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic research engagements for enterprise business partners, identifying emerging customer needs, market trends, and competitive dynamics to deliver insights that inform business strategy, product, marketing, customer experience, innovation, and growth.
  • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative research, behavioral data, and market intelligence into compelling executive narratives that drive action.
  • Anticipate what's next. Establish a more proactive insights model that identifies emerging customer needs, marketplace shifts and strategic opportunities before they become explicit research requests, helping business leaders make better decisions with greater confidence and speed.

Operations

  • Lead the Operations function for Amex Insights, including research governance, compliance, risk management, vendor partnerships, budgeting, and operational excellence, redesigning processes and transforming experiences to increase efficiency, quality, and scale.
  • Partner across Amex Insights Capabilities, Technology, Risk, Legal, Procurement, and other key functions to advance AI-powered research tools, emerging technologies, and capabilities that enhance insight generation and delivery.
  • Lead the team and help shape the continued evolution of Amex Insights as a strategic enterprise capability.

Qualifications

  • Extensive leadership experience in customer insights, market research, strategy, consulting, or a related discipline, with a track record of influencing enterprise strategy and senior leaders in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Deep expertise in qualitative and quantitative research and translating customer insights into business strategy, supported by strong executive communication and storytelling skills.
  • Strong operational leadership across governance, vendor management, budgeting, process redesign, and scalable operating models.
  • Experience leading transformation and leveraging AI-powered research tools and emerging technologies to enhance insight generation and delivery.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.

How Openbound evaluates sponsorship

Visa history uses official U.S. Department of Labor H-1B LCA disclosure data and USCIS H-1B petition history. Green card history uses DOL PERM disclosure data. Each is read for the employer as a whole, for roles like this one, and for this location, weighted toward the most recent fiscal years.

An employer is matched to its filing entities by verified legal name and reviewed aliases; a match is never made on a name resemblance alone. Where no verified entity can be matched, the page says so and draws no conclusion from the absence. 344 filing titles were examined for this employer.

What this posting states outranks history in both directions, and an employer's published policy outranks past filings. Filing history reflects past behavior; it is not a promise of sponsorship for this opening, and none of this is legal advice.
