Position Summary

The NAT Accounts Senior Director of Account Management leads a team of Account Executives supporting large, complex National Accounts. This leader is responsible for customer retention, profitable growth, client satisfaction, account strategy, and effective execution across an assigned portfolio.

The Senior Director partners with Sales, Client Management, Underwriting, Operations, Network, Clinical, Product, and other enterprise teams to address customer needs, manage business risks, and deliver measurable value. The role requires strong healthcare-industry knowledge, sound business judgment, executive-level communication, and the ability to lead through a complex organization.

**In addition to a base salary, this opportunity is eligible for Sales Incentive Compensation + Stock options**

What you will do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Account Executives.
  • Establish clear priorities, performance expectations, and accountability across the team.
  • Oversee customer strategies focused on retention, growth, financial performance, member experience, and client satisfaction.
  • Identify customer and portfolio risks early and lead the development of mitigation plans.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior customer and consultant leaders.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions, annual reviews, renewal negotiations, finalist meetings, and other executive-level presentations.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for complex customer, operational, financial, and service issues.
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources to resolve issues, meet customer commitments, and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with Sales and Underwriting to develop competitive and financially responsible renewal and growth strategies.
  • Maintain oversight of portfolio performance, customer risks, revenue opportunities, and key deliverables.
  • Ensure account teams maintain clear roles across strategy, relationship management, service delivery, and specialized support functions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve account-management processes, customer governance, and team effectiveness.
  • Promote collaboration, operational discipline, continuous improvement, and consistent use of best practices.
  • Support staffing, succession planning, performance management, and professional development.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in healthcare account management, client management, sales, consulting, healthcare benefits, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing experienced Healthcare Account Management/Account Executive professionals.
  • Experience supporting large, complex, or strategically important National Account customers.
  • Strong understanding of customer strategy, healthcare benefits, financial performance, and service delivery.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and resolve complex business issues.
  • Strong executive presence, presentation skills, and written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and drive work through completion.
  • Current Health & Life license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare National Accounts or large-employer experience.
  • Experience working with benefits consultants and senior customer decision-makers.
  • Experience with renewals, requests for proposals, finalist presentations, and customer governance.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Measures of Success

Success will be measured through customer retention, profitable growth, client satisfaction, portfolio performance, team development, risk mitigation, and timely delivery of customer commitments.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$105,000.00 - $231,132.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
