  • Coordinates efforts to ensure that information systems support departmental objectives and information management needs.
  • Supports efforts to ensure that information systems upholds overall organizational mission and objectives.
  • Works closely with departmental customers to conduct business analysis and identify business objectives and requirements.
  • Assists in the development of technology plans and strategies.
  • Coordinates the planning and implementation of systems related projects.
  • Maintains a high level of client satisfaction with Information Services as provided to assigned clients. Performs other related duties as required.

Position Summary

The HR Business Analyst supports Human Resources operations by analyzing business processes, data, systems, and technology needs to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of HR services. The position works closely with HR team members, departmental stakeholders, University partners, and technology resources to identify business needs, document requirements, analyze data, develop solutions, and coordinate the implementation and enhancement of HR-related systems, processes, reports, and tools.

The position serves as a functional liaison between Human Resources and technical or institutional partners, translating HR business needs into clear system, reporting, and process requirements. The HR Business Analyst supports HR data integrity, reporting and analytics, process improvement, system testing, project implementation, documentation, and end-user support while ensuring solutions align with departmental objectives and broader organizational priorities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge: Knowledge of business analysis principles, process improvement methodologies, information systems, data management, and project coordination. Working knowledge of Human Resources business processes and the employee lifecycle. Knowledge of HR information systems, reporting tools, data governance principles, and practices related to maintaining accurate and confidential employee information.

Skills: Strong business analysis, analytical, problem-solving, and process-mapping skills. Skill in gathering and documenting business and functional requirements and translating operational needs into technology or process solutions. Strong data analysis and reporting skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience working with large datasets. Strong project coordination, documentation, written communication, and interpersonal skills.

Abilities: Ability to analyze complex HR processes and information, identify root causes and patterns, and develop practical recommendations. Ability to translate between HR business users and technical partners. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, work collaboratively across functional areas, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and organizational information. Ability to learn new systems and technologies and apply them effectively to HR business needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of position specific subject matter knowledge and/or experience in planning and applying information technology to one or more business functions OR an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
