THE ROLE:

This is a specialized engineering position responsible for Product Engineering program technical planning for next-generation AMD microprocessors. This individual serves as a critical technical point of contact to the business, design, platform validation and product engineering teams. THE PERSON:

You will provide technical supervision or mentoring to junior engineers and influence others as a subject matter expert. A successful candidate is one who can drive technical decisions independently, has accountability for accuracy, reliability and completeness of assignment results critical to the project’s success. This role allows the opportunity to influence technical decisions that have a significant impact on multiple products or the product line.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with design, validation, and architecture teams for content coverage, test pattern development, validation, and debugging   
• Develop test program infrastructure incorporating latest Best-Known methods   
• Solves sophisticated, novel, and non-recurring problems; initiates significant changes to existing processes/ methods and leads development and implementation 
• Identify and plan product improvement activities to reduce cost, improve yield and resolve quality issues
• Own end-to-end functional debug of post-silicon issues across the Instinct GPU roadmap, driving root cause isolation across hardware, firmware, and software layers by correlating lab data (JTAG/debug bus captures, register dumps, waveforms) with system-level symptoms, and partnering with design, firmware, and architecture teams to converge on fixes or documented workarounds.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously expand functional test content and debug infrastructure (scripts, automation frameworks, custom fixtures) to increase bring-up and regression coverage across new Instinct silicon revisions, enabling faster triage turnaround as the program scales from early engineering samples to production.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for complex, intermittent, or cross-functional bugs, mentoring junior validation engineers on debug methodology and clearly communicating findings, risk assessments, and schedule impact to program management and cross-site stakeholders.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with being responsible for projects or processes of significant technical importance and for results that cross engineering project areas  
• Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Ruby, shell script   
• Proficient in Linux, Unix, or Windows OS  
• Statistical analysis experience to resolve population mean and outliers   

• Deep knowledge of computer architecture is preferred   

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in computer engineering or computer science or electrical engineering, or comparable disciplines
