Sketch Artist - Part Time

As a Sketch Artist at the Disneyland® Resort, you will combine artistic talent with Disney Guest Service by creating character artwork in an on-stage environment for Guests to enjoy and purchase.

In this role, you will produce Disney character sketches using traditional artistic mediums and approved source materials while maintaining established character design standards and artistic integrity. Because artwork is created in view of Guests, Sketch Artists also have the opportunity to engage with Guests, answer questions about the artistic process, and help create memorable experiences through Disney storytelling and character art.

Responsibilities :

• Draw Disney character sketches using traditional artistic mediums and approved source documents
• Consistently produce approved artwork while maintaining established character design standards and character integrity
• Maintain a varied assortment of completed sketches available for Guest purchase, including matted and framed artwork as appropriate
• Demonstrate artistic techniques while working on-stage and comfortably answer Guest questions about the artwork and Sketch Artist Program
• Educate Guests about available character sketches, artistic offerings, and the overall Sketch Artist Program
• Balance artwork production expectations with ongoing Guest interaction and service
• Prioritize work and manage time effectively to maintain artwork availability and meet operational needs
• Partner with location Cast Members, Leaders, and key partners through proactive communication and collaboration

Basic Qualifications :

• You must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for this role
• Ability to produce Disney character sketches using traditional mediums from approved source documents while maintaining established character integrity and artistic standards
• Demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to proactively engage Guests, answer questions, and discuss the Sketch Artist Program and artistic techniques
• Strong ability to multi-task by completing technical art responsibilities while maintaining Guest interaction and awareness of the surrounding environment
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain quality, consistency, and productivity while completing repetitive artistic work
• Ability to receive direction and feedback, prioritize work, and adapt to changing operational needs in a fast-paced environment
• Work effectively as a team with location Cast, Leaders, and key partners through proactive communication and collaboration

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience drawing, sketching, illustrating, or creating character-based artwork
• One or more years of experience in drawing, illustration, sketching, or another artistic discipline
• Education, coursework, certification, or professional experience in art, illustration, animation, graphic design, visual arts, or another creative field
• Experience using traditional drawing mediums
• Experience with character drawing, portraiture, caricature, illustration, or observational drawing
• Previous experience working in an artistic, creative, entertainment, retail, or Guest-facing environment
• Visual merchandising experience

SCHEDULE AVAILABILTY

Our Theme Parks and Resort Hotels operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and some shifts may start as early as 5:00am while some may end as late as 3:00am, 4:00am or 5:00am. Please note that the principles of seniority are used to schedule all roles.
