2026 H-1B Sponsorship Report for UX & Product Designers
955 active U.S. design postings analyzed: 52.8% carry Highly likely or Likely sponsorship signals. Explore role, employer and workplace differences.
As of October 06, 2026 (UTC), Openbound analyzed 955 active U.S.-eligible UX and Product Design postings from active employer sources. 504 of 955 postings (52.8%) carried Highly likely or Likely H-1B sponsorship classifications. This is a snapshot of the inventory Openbound observes, not all U.S. design vacancies.
145 of 955 postings (15.2%) were Unclear. The labels describe the evidence behind an opening; they do not measure a candidate’s chance of an offer, visa approval or lottery selection. A role at a historically sponsoring employer can still explicitly rule out sponsorship.
The practical question is where current design openings and credible employer evidence overlap. The findings below compare role subtypes, current employer inventory, primary states and workplace arrangements, with explicit denominators and the same classifications used in the product.

How many current design jobs show sponsorship signals?
The five product classifications cover all 955 postings in this cohort. Highly likely: 89 / 955 (9.3%); Likely: 415 / 955 (43.5%); Possible: 237 / 955 (24.8%); Unclear: 145 / 955 (15.2%); Unlikely: 69 / 955 (7.2%). Percentages are rounded to one decimal place and may not sum to exactly 100%.
Highly likely and Likely form an evidence-backed starting point, not an application acceptance rate. Possible indicates limited support. Unclear means the available record does not justify a stronger conclusion; Unlikely reflects negative evidence under the product’s rules.

Design subtypes do not share one sponsorship profile
The largest title-defined subtype is Product Design: 648 / 955 postings. Each subgroup’s favorable share uses its own sample size, rather than all 955 openings. Product Design: 309 / 648 (47.7%) Highly likely or Likely; UX / UI / Interaction: 143 / 215 (66.5%) Highly likely or Likely; UX Research: 34 / 64 (53.1%) Highly likely or Likely; Design Systems: 16 / 26 (61.5%) Highly likely or Likely.
These subtypes refine the existing design family for reporting; they are based on title rules and are not independently verified occupations. Groups with fewer than 20 postings should be read as descriptive counts, not reliable estimates of a broader market.

Employers with active design openings and verified history
The employer table lists up to 20 employers with current openings. Ranking first uses design openings with verified employer identity and mapped, positive LCA or USCIS history; then Highly likely + Likely openings; then total active design openings; finally employer name. This prioritizes the overlap between current inventory and attributable evidence, rather than historical filing volume. The leading three employers hold 145 / 955 postings (15.2%) in this design cohort.
Verified history is an employer-level fact and can include USCIS continuation approvals. It does not establish design-specific sponsorship, new hiring, or eligibility for every opening. The favorable column separately reflects each posting’s current classification.

Where are the current openings?
Primary state is available for 738 / 955 postings. The chart shows the ten largest recorded primary-state buckets; the HTML table contains every bucket. Unspecified and multi-location records remain visible. CA: 303 / 955 (31.7%); NY: 165 / 955 (17.3%); WA: 86 / 955 (9.0%).
A posting is counted once under its stored primary state. Multi-location and nationwide remote openings can be eligible in additional states, so this is a description of recorded posting locations rather than the number of available seats or all eligible worksites.

Remote work does not answer the sponsorship question
Unspecified: 616 / 955 (64.5%); Remote: 235 / 955 (24.6%); Hybrid: 88 / 955 (9.2%); On-site: 16 / 955 (1.7%). Workplace type describes where work is performed; it does not determine the employer’s immigration policy. For Remote postings, 57 / 235 carry Highly likely or Likely signals. With 616 / 955 workplace values unspecified, this is not enough to claim that remote work causes weaker sponsorship.
Compare signals inside each arrangement using its own denominator. Unspecified is retained as a category; the absence of a remote flag is never treated as evidence that an opening is on-site.

What to do with these findings
Search broadly within your discipline: Product Design contributes 648 / 955 openings. Its signal share differs from UX / UI / Interaction, but this cohort does not justify changing your specialization or claiming higher hiring success in another subtype.
Use the employer table as a research shortlist. For example, Amazon has 87 active design openings in this snapshot, with 84 attached to verified history and 84 classified Highly likely or Likely. Verify the individual job and employing legal entity before applying.
If you need remote work, investigate the 57 favorable-signal postings among 235 Remote openings rather than assuming any remote role supports a visa. Check permitted states and U.S. work authorization requirements on the source posting.
For the 145 Unclear openings, ask the recruiter about sponsorship for this role and your visa pathway before investing in an interview loop. Missing evidence is not a refusal; an explicit restriction is more decisive than company-wide filing history.

Methodology
Active jobs; country=US; active company; US eligibility not explicitly excluded; existing product-design title family; physical/apparel/hardware design and engineering/production/product-management titles excluded; persisted sponsorship conclusion required
The read-only extraction examined 219085 active U.S. postings from active companies and retained 955 distinct design posting IDs. Sponsorship labels use the existing persisted conclusion, with missing classifications blocking publication.
Verified-history openings require the existing identity_verified flag, mapped LCA or USCIS evidence, and positive recent company filings or USCIS initial/continuing approvals. This narrower report definition is separate from the product classification.
Extraction began October 06, 2026 and finished October 06, 2026. The downloadable JSON preserves the query scope and timestamps; the repository audit includes the posting-level cohort used to reconstruct aggregates.

Sources & limitations
- This is a monitored-source sample, not a representative census of the U.S. design job market. Active source IDs are posting counts, not unique employers, vacancies, offers or hires.
- Title-based role rules can omit ambiguous titles or misclassify work. Hardware, physical and apparel design titles, and engineering/production/product-management titles are explicitly excluded. Small subtypes may change sharply between snapshots.
- There is no sufficiently comparable structured seniority field in the extracted cohort; this report does not infer a seniority effect from job titles.
- 740 / 955 postings (77.5%) have at least one stored salary bound. Coverage alone does not resolve currency, periods, multiple regional ranges or conditional compensation, so no salary–sponsorship correlation is published.
- Primary-state counts underrepresent all worksites of multi-location postings. Remote does not mean unrestricted international or nationwide eligibility.
- The extraction uses paginated reads while source updates can occur; it is not an atomic snapshot. Data-through is an extraction date, not each posting’s last verification date.
- Historical filing evidence is lagged and may refer to different roles or legal entities. Continuation history is distinct from new-employment approvals. No candidate outcomes or success probabilities are observed.
